ALM Consolidates Conferences
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/9/2006
New York-based business-to-business media company ALM has reorganized all its meetings and exhibitions into one division. The company's properties include the LegalTech New York and LegalTech West Coast tradeshows, and about 300 conferences.
According to company spokesman Lee Feldman, the reorganization combines ALM's four events groups into one. Total attendance at all events is expected to exceed 40,000 senior-level executives this year from the legal, financial, natural resources, life sciences, multi-cultural marketing, real estate and health care sectors.
The consolidation includes several types of face-to-face gatherings:
- events put on by the Strategic Research Institute, acquired by ALM earlier this year;
- ALM Events for legal professionals and managers;
- Insight Information's business conferences in Canada;
- and the RealShare conference series produced by ALM's real estate media division.
The new events division is headed by Stuart M. Williams, who joined ALM as part of the SRI acquisition. Tor Holtan, Strategic Research Institute COO, was named vice president of operations.
Feldman said ALM's recent acquisitions will operate as independent units, but still have synergy.
"For example, lawyers wanted to meet and talk with real estate people about legal issues, and we wanted to build a unified database," he said. "Combining the divisions puts all four under one management structure and one umbrella, and offers the opportunity to build a unified support structure and look across the four sectors in order to present a more unified approach to prospective sponsors."
