Five meeting, convention and exhibition industry leaders joined 92 others in the Convention Industry Council's Hall of Leaders when they were inducted at a gala held Dec. 11, 2007, at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The five honorees are:
- Christine Duffy, president and CEO, Maritz Travel
- Steven Hacker, president, Intl. Assn. of Exhibitions and Events
- Robert Moore, executive vice president, Freeman
- Edward E. Scannell, director, Center for Professional Development & Training
- Roger Tondeur, president, MCI Group Holding
Claudio Artusi is the new CEO of Fiera Milano. He was previously managing director of Sviluppo Sistema Fiera, the Fiera Milano Foundation's engineering and contracting company, which built the new Rho exhibition site. He succeeded Piergiacomo Ferrari, who had led Fiera Milano since 2003.
The Melbourne (Australia) Exhibition and Convention Centre named former Tourism New Zealand public relations specialist Kirstie Bedford communications manager, replacing Bernadette Zaydan who is taking a year-long maternity leave.
Natl. Trade Productions announced several promotions:
- Tamara Christian, president, is now CEO.
- Jennifer Hoff, vice president of operations and conferences, became general manager.
- Glenn Feder, vice president of sales, is president of client events.
- Paige Cardwell, vice president of marketing and managing director of NTP's Creative Solutions Group, is now CSG president.
The Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau hired Rob Hampton as vice president of sales.
Professional Exhibits & Graphics, a tradeshow exhibit, graphics and management services company, appointed Tom Hopkins chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Hopkins was previously the company's controller.
