World of Concrete
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 1/22/2007
- Where: Las Vegas Convention Center (every year)
- When: Jan. 23–26
- Show manager: Hanley Wood Exhibitions
- General service contractor: Freeman
- Who exhibits: Suppliers and service providers for the concrete and masonry construction industry
- Who attends: Builders, developers and contractors
- 2006 show statistics: 786,875 net sq. ft.; 1,589 exhibiting companies; 65,321 buyers
- Position on the 2006 TSW 200: 21
- New this year: More outdoor exhibits; the first-ever Operators' Precision Challenge in which equipment operators demonstrate their skills "in close quarters"; an economic summit examining the U.S. economy's impact on the construction industry; and the second annual Women in Concrete Forum
- The bottom line: Last year's World of Concrete was the largest in the show's 31-year history, growing by more than 100,000 sq. ft. over the '05 edition. Hanley Wood press releases modestly estimate that, with 400 new exhibitors, the showfloor will grow by another 100,000 sq. ft. this year. Despite a real estate slump and a slowdown in housing starts, can one of the construction industry's largest tradeshows just keep on growing?
