VNU Business Media (now the Nielsen Company) has made a number of new staff announcements:
Shereen Abuzobaa is group marketing director for travel, performance and marketing services.
Eric Mika has been promoted to senior vice president and managing director of the film and performing arts and music groups, including the CineAsia and Cinema Expo Intl. exhibitions.
Scott Pierce is now president of the travel group, responsible for Business Travel News, Successful Meetings and Meeting News, the Corporate Travel World exhibition and eight one-day Marketplace events.
Dan Corcoran is now publisher of the performance group.
The Baltimore Area Convention & Visitors Assn. hired former Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau senior vice president and 18-year industry veteran Thomas J. Noonan as president and CEO. Noonan, 41, replaced Ronnie L. Burt, interim president and CEO since May, who returns full-time to his role as vice president of convention sales and services.
Gary C. Sain will replace Bill Peeper, who retired at the end of 2006, as the new president of the Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Sain formerly worked for PR hospitality firm Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown and Russell, GES Exposition Services and Hyatt Hotels and starts in his new position Feb. 12.
The Washington (D.C.) Convention Center Authority hired Samuel R. Thomas Jr. and Linda G. Erickson as deputy general manager and director of sales, respectively.
The Toy Industry Assn. named Daniela Weiss vice president of strategic marketing and communications.
Milestones
Bob Francisco, owner of Admore Exhibits in Worcester, Mass., died Dec. 2 at age 66 of complications from pneumonia.
