Show of the Week
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 2/26/2007
Where: Las Vegas Convention Center
When: March 4-7 (semiannual)
Show manager: Oxford Publishing
Who exhibits: Suppliers of everything imaginable for bars, liquor stores, restaurants and nightclubs
Who attends: Owners and operators of bars, liquor stores, country clubs, restaurants and nightclubs
2006 show statistics: 240,300 net sq. ft.; 728 exhibiting companies; 42,000 buyers
Position on the 2006 TSW 200: 102
First year of show: 1983
New this year: Three new shows collocating with the original three, along with three new sponsoring organizations, including the Arizona Restaurant and Hospitality Assn. and the Arizona Hotel and Lodging Assn., which apparently could find nowhere in their own state to stage the Arizona Hospitality Expo. Instead, they've jumped the border to join what Oxford Publishing has modestly labeled "The Show," even though most refer to it simply as "Nightclub."
The bottom line: If you've ever been to Las Vegas — and you probably have — you know that you can belly up to a bar and buy a drink almost anywhere at any time of the day or night. That gives Nightclub a sort of Vegas-within-a-Vegas feel to anybody who trolls the showfloor here where a sizable number of exhibit booths are really, well, bars set up to allow the sampling of the latest thing that every last liquor distributor has to offer.
