Michael Hart -- Tradeshow Week, 2/26/2007
Hanley Wood Exhibitions reported that its World of Concrete, held Jan. 23–26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, set an attendance record, with 91,628 attendees, compared with last year's 81,545, for a 12-percent increase. More than 1,700 exhibitors, including 400 new companies, occupied 900,000 square feet of tools, techniques and equipment, 106,000 sq. ft. more than last year and almost 200,000 sq. ft. more than in 2005, said Tom Cindric, event director. It was the largest show in its 33-year history, he added.
The WSA Show and the Collections at WSA topped last year's event in attendance, exhibit space and international attendance, according to organizers. Attendance rose 8 percent from 34,515 to 37,279; exhibit space increased 3 percent, from 1,080,500 net sq. ft. to 1,112,000 net sq. ft.; and international attendance rose to 26.5 percent of attendees from 24 percent in February 2006. Diane Stone, WSA Show chief operating officer, said the August show will be cut by one day to a three-day run.
