The Trade Show Exhibitors Assn. granted Sal Cavallaro a lifetime membership in recognition of dedication and service to the association and industry. Cavallaro is a 35-year veteran of sales promotion, marketing support and the tradeshow industry who retired in December from United Technologies. He has since launched his own consulting business, SJC Consulting.
SmithBucklin promoted Senior Director Cele Fogarty to vice president of convention and tradeshow services. She will continue to work from the company's Washington, D.C., office.
Suntec Singapore Intl. Convention & Exhibition Centre appointed Pieter Idenburg to the newly created position of COO.
The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority announced three promotions: Travis A. McCready to chief operating officer, Johanna M. Storella to chief financial officer and Fred Peterson to deputy chief operating officer.
Nimlok promoted Mark Milden to senior director of business development.
Maureen S. Pickell joined ConventionPlanit.com, a search engine and Web portal in the meetings industry, as director of global accounts.
E.J. Krause and Associates promoted Paul St. Amour to vice president Latin America and Jose Navarro to director general of E.J. Krause Mexico. St. Amour will continue to travel to Mexico on a regular basis and Navarro will report to him. Navarro will handle the day-to-day operations of the company in Mexico, and St. Amour will maintain involvement in new business development in Mexico and the rest of the region.
The United Kingdom's Assn. of Exhibition Contractors named Chris Skeith deputy director and Events Industry Alliance project director.
John van Stolk will leave Amsterdam RAI to become business development director of the NEC Group in Birmingham, U.K., effective March 1.
Greg Saunders, vice president and managing director of the Hyatt Regency Chicago, stepped down from the volunteer post of chairman of the Chicago Convention and Tourism Bureau board of directors at the end of January, shortly before the end of his one-year term. He will become senior vice president of the Grand Hyatt at the Cosmopolitan, a hotel slated to open in Las Vegas in 2009. As previously announced, John Patronski replaced Saunders.
The Expo Group promoted Shane Sexton from project manager to general operations manager of Las Vegas.
