Globe07 Launches in Rome

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 3/5/2007

Trade fair organizers from around the globe are reporting news, with partnerships and shows springing up from Algiers to Shanghai.

  • Globe07, a new international tourism fair in Rome, will bow March 22–24 in the new Fiera Roma exhibition center. It is expected to cover 40,000 square meters (430,500 square feet) of exhibit space and attract more than 1,000 companies from southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
Globe is a joint venture between Fiera Roma and Rimini Fiera Gruppo. Globe will also host the Italia Art Cities Exchange in partnership with ENIT, the Italian State Tourist Board, with more than 250 exhibitors from the cultural tourism area.
  • The ITE Group won a bid to organize CEER 2007, the second edition of the Intl. Renewable Energy Conference & Exhibition, May 13–15, in the Hotel Madar in Algiers, Algeria. The show will focus on development policies for renewable energy. It includes an exhibition, a conference and a series of technical workshops on the development of renewable energy sources, investment opportunities, and national and international industrial bodies and research centers.
  • Messe Frankfurt will launch Senior Lifestyle Asia July 5–7 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The organizer expects 13,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors at the event. It will feature businesses offering products and services that target the elderly. Attendees will include wholesalers, retailers, therapists and hospital representatives.
  • The Intl. Hospitality Furniture Expo 2007 will debut at the Bahrain Intl. Exhibition Centre Sept. 3–5. According to IHFEX's organizers, Singapore-based MP Congress & Exhibitions and Intl. Furniture Fair Singapore, the show will be the Middle East's first exhibition targeting the outfitting of hotels, serviced apartments, commercial projects, cruise liners and other hospitality projects.
Tony Chan, IHFEX 2007 project director, said the show would provide the platform for companies to start making inroads into this potentially lucrative marketplace. Manufacturers from Singapore and around the region reserved more than 30 percent of the available exhibit space by late last year. MP projects the exhibition will encompass 8,000 sq. m. (86,000 sq. ft.).
  • Tarsus Group entered into a long-term partnership with Intex Shanghai, which owns and manages the Shanghai Intl. Exhibition Centre, and venues in Ningbo and Zhengzhou. The partnership will manage three Intex exhibitions for an initial period of 20 years.
Two of these are Intex's medical exhibitions Oral Care China, to be held Oct. 11–13, and the Oct. 5–7 China Aid (for disability equipment), both at Intex Shanghai. The partnership will also manage the industrial infrastructure show Tunnel China. The group is planning a second new infrastructure event for 2008, and will carry out various operations activities for Labelexpo Asia in Shanghai in November.
  • Dubai World Trade Centre and Koelnmesse announced the launch of Sweets Middle East during a signing ceremony at Gulfood 2007 in Dubai. Sweets Middle East will be Nov. 18–20 at the Dubai Intl. Convention and Exhibition Centre, for international manufacturers from the sweets and confectionery, bakery, snack food and ice cream sectors seeking to penetrate Middle East markets. The DWTC forecasts the show will attract more than 180 exhibitors from 25 countries for the inaugural event.
  • Oils+fats, an international trade fair for the production and processing of oils and fats made from renewable resources, will premiere Nov. 20–22 at Munich's M.O.C. Event Centre. Oils+fats is a new concept, but its subject matter is based on Eurolipids, an exhibition that was held only once, in Frankfurt in 2005.
  • Montgomery Intl. and Hungexpo will consolidate their respective IFE and Foodapest food exhibitions into one annual event for the Balkan and Central European region. The merged exhibition, IFE Foodapest, will take place for the first time Nov. 20–22 at Hungexpo, Budapest. IFE is a brand of worldwide food exhibitions. Foodapest, a biennial food event, has taken place in Budapest for 15 years. The food equipment and technology section of Foodapest will remain biennial, next occurring in November 2008 and rebranded as the Foodapest Technology & Equipment Exhibition.
  • Messe Berlin will stage a new tradeshow for the fresh produce sector next year. Freshconex will debut alongside Fruit Logistica Feb. 7–9, 2008, in Berlin. According to Messe Berlin COO Christian Goeke, the new show will bring together business players with a focus on the growing market for fresh-cut products. In addition, for the first time this year the firm will stage the new Asia Fruit Logistica in conjunction with the Asia Fruit Congress Sept. 5–7 in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Reed Exhibitions Middle East will launch ISNR Abu Dhabi, an international tradeshow focused on security challenges facing governments and businesses in the Middle East. It will be held March 2–5, 2008, at the Abu Dhabi Natl. Exhibitions Centre.

According to Frederic Theux, president of Reed Exhibitions Middle East, the event will provide an environment for companies with high-tech security products and services to communicate and interact with senior government procurement personnel engaged in all aspects of security, homeland defense and preparedness. ISNR will incorporate the former Security and Safety Middle East, Infosecurity and APTS (Airport, Port & Transport Security) Middle East exhibitions, in response to requests by exhibitors to streamline the region's security events calendar.
