For the second year, officials said, Natural Products Expo West/Supply Expo, held March 8–11 at Anaheim, Calif., broke its own attendance record.
The natural, organic and healthy products tradeshow drew 47,000 total visitors this year, according to a press report. Last year, the tradeshow drew 45,583 total attendees, according to figures reported to Tradeshow Week research, indicating attendance growth of 3 percent.
"The show offers companies an international stage to introduce new products and build key retailer relationships," said Fredrik M. Linder, president of New Hope Natural Media, a division of Penton Media, which owns the show. "It's always exciting to see new categories begin to grow and new products take root here."
The show, launched in 1981, is in Anaheim every year. It was a 2006 TSW Fastest 50 winner and is ranked No. 93 in the 2006 TSW 200.
Jessica Burke, a salesperson for New York City-based exhibitor Vita Coca, stood in the middle of packed aisles and passed out samples of coconut juice. "There are tons of people! It's going really great this year," she said.
In 2006, the West show had 288,650 net square feet, 1,795 exhibiting companies and 29,999 professional attendees (not including exhibit personnel).
The company also owns Natural Products Expo East/Organic Products Expo-BioFach America, which ranked No. 155 on the 2006 TSW 200.
