The American Academy of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery Foundation named Mary Pat Cornett director of meetings and exhibits.
Norman Ford, director of business and operations at the Vicksburg (Miss.) Convention Center & Vicksburg Auditorium, is now president of the Assn. for Convention Operations Management. Ford succeeded Larry Wilson, general manager of the John Paul Jones Arena at the University of Virginia.
Donald S. Freeman Jr., chairman and CEO of Freeman, received the 2007 Spirit of Hospitality Award from the Destination Marketing Assn. Intl. Foundation at its annual dinner in Washington, D.C. DMAI honored Freeman for his continued support of convention and visitor bureaus and the destination marketing industry.
Meeting Professionals Intl. named Vicki Hawarden vice president of knowledge management and member events. She was previously director of education and conferences for the Natl. Recreation and Park Assn.
The Phoenix Convention Center selected Kevin Mattingly as deputy director of operations. Mattingly was previously operations superintendent.
Messe Frankfurt Middle East in Dubai appointed Eckhard Pruy CEO. Pruy joined Messe Frankfurt in 2000 as director of sales for Germany.
Kalahari Resorts, a conference and event facility in Wisconsin Dells, Wis., hired Kevin Shanley as sales director.
Meet Minneapolis announced that Melvin Tennant will serve as CEO of iDSS, the destination management software company started by the convention and visitors bureau in 2001. He will also take on the newly created position of senior vice president of innovation and operations at Meet Minneapolis.
