Fitchburg Furniture Market Returning
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 4/30/2007
After a two-year absence, the Fitchburg Furniture & Accessory Market is scheduled to return. The 38th edition of the show will take place Sept. 9–10 at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Fitchburg, Mass.
Larry Karel, president of Karel Exposition Management, said he had taken a hiatus from the Fitchburg show when the economy started to fall apart in that region. "We felt it was not the best time to produce a furniture and accessory market," he said.
But Karel said he'd been getting requests from exhibitors to revive the event, and after evaluating several factors he decided to do so.
"At the request of a number of industry veterans in the region, we are going back. Many have told us that their buyers are not going to High Point or Las Vegas, so KEM will be there to serve them," Karel added.
The event formerly spanned three days, but in its return, it will follow a two-day, Sunday-through-Monday schedule. Karel expects more than 300 exhibitors from Massachusetts and the rest of New England, displaying furniture, bedding, lighting and decorative accessories. The show is open to furniture buyers, interior designers and specialty stores.
