PCBC
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/21/2007
Where: Moscone Center, San Francisco (always the same)
When: May 30–June 1 (annual)
Show owner: California Building Industry Assn.
Service contractor: Champion Nationwide Contractors
Who exhibits: Makers of products and services used in residential home construction
Who attends: Home builders, remodelers, general contractors, developers, architects, designers, land planners, financial community principals and marketing and advertising specialists
2006 show statistics: 228,700 net sq. ft.; 763 exhibiting firms; 21,199 professional attendees
Position on the 2007 TSW 200: 111
First year of show: 1959
New this year: Growth... tempered with cautious optimism. The California Building Industry Assn. projects PCBC will fill at least 230,000 net sq. ft. this year. At the same time, the conference includes several sessions geared toward addressing "today's changing market." The theme of this year's show is "the New Basics."
The bottom line: PCBC has been on a steady upward climb, from No. 158 in the TSW 200 five years ago to No. 111 this year, including a 29-spot leap from '05 to '06. But with the housing market cooling off, particularly on the West Coast, how much longer can the growth go on?
