New this year: Hard to say yet. Every year, the city ASCO visits is the dateline for several breaking news stories detailing advances in cancer research.
The bottom line: ASCO attendance took a slight dip last year — down about 500 from the previous year's 23,000 — but it's likely to rebound in 2007. According to a study by the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Assn., attendance at oncology meetings and tradeshows has grown faster than any other health care specialty over the last 10 years (79.6 percent). The reason? See "New this year" above: It's where all the groundbreaking medical advances in recent years have taken place.
