Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 5/28/2007
The Hyatt Regency Chicago has completed an $8.6 million renovation of its West Tower meeting space, including the $6.5 million overhaul of the Regency Ballroom.
Gretchen Spear, promotions manager for the hotel, said the Regency Ballroom spans 16,100 square feet, is occasionally used for smaller tradeshows and can function as a banquet room for 1,200, reception hall for 1,600, theater for 1,600 or classroom for 756.
The hotel now offers a total of 228,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and 70,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, the Riverside Center.
Technology upgrades to the ballroom included LCD projectors and light animation capability. Each ballroom section now features built-in integrated projection screens, and the Regency Foyer offers three registration-information desks with Internet access, direct dial phones and satellite guestroom check-in.
The meeting space upgrade included a $2.1 million renovation of the Stetson Conference Center, 15 meeting rooms and West Tower Bronze-level public space.
The renovation also added the Club at 151, a special event venue that can accommodate groups of 100 to 1,000 and features state-of-the-art audiovisual technology.
