More Foreign Buyers at CES
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 6/18/2007
The 2007 Intl. CES broke at least one attendance record when it was held Jan. 5–8. According to an audit conducted by Veris Consulting, the consumer electronics show attracted 27,020 international attendees, more than ever before in its history.
The audit figures that the Consumer Electronics Assn. released June 6 indicated total attendance of 143,695 was less than the 152,203 who were at the 2006 show. However, according to CEA spokeswoman Tara Dunion, this year's number beat the goal that the association had set for itself.
"We worked to ensure a quality industry attendance," Dunion said. "The goal for the 2007 Intl. (CES) was 140,000 high-quality industry attendees, which is what we successfully achieved."
From an exhibition standpoint, 2007 numbers were up compared with those of 2006. The show covered 1.8 million net square feet of space between the Las Vegas Convention Center, Sands Expo & Convention Center/Venetian Resort Hotel Casino and Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. That space was occupied by 2,924 exhibiting firms.
According to figures submitted to TSW, the 2006 Intl. CES spanned 1,691,633 net sq. ft and attracted 2,732 exhibiting firms and 96,484 professional attendees. It was No. 1 on the 2007 Tradeshow Week 200.
Veris has been auditing Intl. CES since 1997.
