New this year: The show itself, at least the Los Angeles version. Begun in New York in 2000, the show and awards program is the fourth in the series celebrating the extremes of the event planning industry. The New York show a month ago attracted 300 exhibitors and 3,000 attendees.
The bottom line: The increasingly high-profile franchise moves on to L.A. after conquering New York, Toronto and Miami. The event includes the BizBash Awards to various event planning disciplines. In New York last month, "Big B" awards went to the creator of a first-ever reality show for cats (part of a promotion for a new cat food) and to both the caterer and lighting designer of the "Sopranos" wrap party.
