Global Update: New Apparel Events
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/16/2007
In locales spanning the globe, there are more new shows coming down the pike, as well as changes to existing shows, in industries ranging from wellness to apparel to IT.
- ITEC France will extend the fifth edition of Beyond Beauty Paris by a day. It will now be held Oct. 1–4 at the Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte. The event comprises four shows, and ITEC France said the additional day would allow attendance to be spread out and better targeted. The collocated shows are CosMeeting — The Intl. Exhibition of Beauty Brands; Spa & Institut, for beauty care products and beauty salon and spa equipment; Creative, for beauty suppliers; and Ingredients, for beauty ingredients.
- The first Professional Lighting Design Convention will take place Oct. 24–27 in London. PLDC will target the architectural lighting design profession. Professional Lighting Design magazine and the Professional Lighting Designers' Assn. organize the conference and exhibition.
- Messe Duesseldorf will launch WEARe Duesseldorf for progressive and contemporary apparel Feb. 8–10 in Duesseldorf, Germany. Show management said the show's dates, overlapping by only one day with Igedo Fashion Fairs Duesseldorf, and separate location will communicate to potential attendees that WEARe Duesseldorf is an event independent from the Igedo Fashion Fairs. WEARe Duesseldorf will consist of three core areas — denim, sport and street, and design — and be staged in the new exhibit hall at the Duesseldorf fairgrounds, near Igedo Fashion Fairs Duesseldorf.
- The Paris-Nord Villepinte Exhibition and Convention Centre will host SMAC's SMAC, Salon des Metiers et Activites de la Creation, a tradeshow for hobbies, crafts, fine arts and creative activities, March 16–18. The show was previously held at Paris Expo — Porte de Versailles.
- Co-organizers Production Management & Services and Impact Exhibition Management have rescheduled the launch of Proud Asia 2007 from Sept. 27–30 to March 20–23 next year. The international trade exhibition and conference for the medical tourism, spa and wellness industries will still be held at Bangkok's IMPACT Convention Center Muangthong Thani. The show's new name will be Proud Asia 2008 and 300 expected exhibitors will have support from the Thai government, which is working to promote medical tourism. Organizers said they hope the current political and economic instability in Thailand would ease by next spring, which is also the country's peak tourist season.
- Messe Schweiz has moved the dates of its human resources event Personal Swiss back a little more than a month. Instead of taking place March 12–13, the event will now be held April 22–23 at Messezentrum Zurich, Switzerland.
- Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien will launch an annual spin-off of ITnT, the international trade fair for information technology and telecommunications. ITnT Prague will be held April 23–24 at the Congress Center Prague. Meanwhile, the fourth ITnT will be held Feb. 5–7 at Vienna's MessezentrumWienNeu. About 75 exhibitors and 1,000 professional attendees are expected for the event's debut. Reed Exhibitions expects to eventually export the fair to Bulgaria, Serbia and the Ukraine.
- MB Events canceled its September 2007 BMF music show in Birmingham, England, but will launch a similar public show with one trade day at ExCel London. The London Intl. Music Show will take place May 8–11, merging the London Guitar Show, Drummer Live and two new shows, Sound Recording Technology and The Unplugged Show.
- Fira de Barcelona is launching the biennial Avante June 5–7 for technology, products and services that enhance the quality of life for the disabled and elderly. The tradeshow, to be held in the Gran Via exhibition center, is designed for institutions, companies and health care professionals. Organizers expect about 180 exhibiting companies spanning 7,000 square meters (75,000 square feet) of exhibition space and more than 12,000 attendees.
- Business development through technology transfer is the focus of British organizer Mack Brooks Exhibitions' IPTEC, which will move from Cannes, France, to the Steigenberger Airport Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany, June 11–12. The show will feature IT, telecommunications, consumer goods, medical technology, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and environmental engineering. The event comprises a conference, exhibition, workshops and presentations of new technologies by participants.
- Medical Conferences Intl., a subsidiary of Tarsus Group, announced the next phase of its expansion into the anti-aging medical sector with the launch of a yet-to-be-named exhibition and conference. The event will be held in partnership with the World Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, the European Society of Anti-Aging Medicine and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine in Duesseldorf Sept. 11–14, 2008.
