Peter Abraham joined Convention Data Services as manager of exhibitor services. He was previously director of registration services at Experient.

Meet Minneapolis, Official Convention & Visitors Assn., appointed Pat Gale director of creative services and convention marketing and Connie Stelter public relations manager.

Greg Ayers was named CEO of the Kalamazoo County (Mich.) Convention & Visitors Bureau effective Aug. 6, replacing Mary Ridderman. Ayers is currently executive director of the South Bend-Mishawaka (Ind.) Convention & Visitors Bureau in Indiana.

The Orlando Sun Resort and Convention Center appointed Doug Barrow director of operations.

The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau promoted Kathleen Bertrand to senior vice president of community and governmental affairs.

AsiaWorld-Expo Management CEO Nicolas Borit will become managing director of one of the venue's shareholders, Dragages Hong Kong, Aug. 1. He will also assume the role of chairman of AsiaWorld-Expo Management and become a board member of Hong Kong IEC, the joint-venture company that owns the venue. AsiaWorld-Expo Management Deputy CEO Allen Ha will become its CEO.

Mike Carrier, general manager of the Shreveport (La.) Convention Center, resigned to become president of the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Sandra Chipchase, CEO of the Melbourne (Australia) Convention & Visitors Bureau, was elected president of the BestCities Global Alliance, a group of convention bureaus founded in 2000.

The Yakima Valley (Wash.) Visitors & Convention Bureau hired John Cooper as president and CEO. He previously led the Bellingham Whatcom County (Wash.) Tourism Bureau.

Robyn Gillespie joined Hargrove's exhibits division as director of business development.

SMG named John Goetz assistant general manager of the Ford Center and Cox Business Services Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

Bangor (Maine) Mayor Richard Greene was named executive director of the Bangor Convention & Visitors Bureau, replacing Donna Fichtner.

CMP Technology promoted Rob Keenan to director of CMP Technology's RFID World Group. He will manage RFID World 2008 in Las Vegas, RFID World Boston and the RFID Excellence in Business Awards event.

a2z named Vince Schuster vice president of sales.

The El Paso (Texas) Convention & Visitors Bureau promoted Dana L. Smith to sales manager in the convention development department.

Cygnus Expositions promoted Julie Thompson, vice president of marketing, to senior vice president and interim head of Cygnus Expositions. She replaced Jeff Price, who is now executive vice president for Freeman.

The Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland named Kurt C. Treu, president of U.S. Bank in northeast Ohio, board chairman.
