New Venue, Transit Plan at Las Vegas Market
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/30/2007
At the 2007 Las Vegas Market, taking place July 30-Aug. 3, home furnishings giant World Market Center has put its temporary exhibits in a venue it hasn't used before and is testing what it calls a streamlined transportation service.
The 700-plus temporary exhibits, which open July 31, will occupy more than half a million square feet of space at Sands Expo & Convention Center/Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. The so-called temporaries are overflow exhibits from the nearly 3 million square feet of permanent showroom space at Buildings A and B on the Market Center campus. Past market temporaries have been located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino and Cashman Center.
Organizers have divided this year's temporaries into eight branded categories, including Design & Living, Home Collection, and Interior Lifestyle and Resource.
Director of Trade Show Operations Michelle Monteferrante believes grouping exhibitors into segments will prove more efficient and convenient for buyers.
To accommodate show growth and improve traffic flow, the Market Center team has partnered with transportation management company Gameday Management Group. They will implement a beefed-up transportation plan to include a more efficient shuttle system. Specifically, a complementary bus called the M-line will carry attendees from all host hotels to the Market Center campus and the Sands.
Building C, opening next year, will include a 3,600-space parking garage, expected to further improve transportation and traffic congestion.
