Global Update: Real Estate in Istanbul

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 7/30/2007

More shows are debuting and relocating around the world, including one that organizers are billing as Turkey’s first real estate tradeshow.

RealistExpo will debut Sept. 27-30 at the New Fair Complex in the Istanbul (Turkey) World Trade Center. Show organizer Atilim Fuarcilik said it is the country’s first real estate tradeshow. Close to 70,000 visitors are expected, along with 100 domestic and international exhibitors involved in the Turkish real estate business. Show managers said the Turkish real estate market has been labeled one of the hottest in Europe by such publications as Business Week and FT Business.

• Banks, telecommunications companies, real estate agents, travel agencies, food companies, employment agencies, insurance companies and car dealers are among the exhibitors looking for business opportunities in Spain’s immigrant community. Show manager Ifema expects companies in those sectors will exhibit in Integra Madrid, a trade fair for products and services for immigrants, to debut in Madrid Oct. 11-14.

• Despite the apparent success of the most recent Expo Real Asia held in December 2006 in Macau, China, Messe Muenchen will move the commercial property event to a new, yet-to-be-determined location. Expo Real Asia, scheduled Nov. 5-7 at the Venetian Macau, will change locations to follow regional Asian market trends. Messe Muenchen previously held it in Shanghai and Tokyo and now is considering several other Asian countries for the event’s next location. The next Expo Real, held each year in Munich, will take place Oct. 8-10.

Summit meetings will be held on the digital home industry and new media development.

• In response to demand from the energy sector for its own event for renewable energies and energy efficiency, IFEMA’s Genera international energy and environment fair, previously a biennial, will be an annual show beginning next year. The 11th edition of Genera will take place Feb. 26-28 at Feria de Madrid (Spain). Genera 2007 attracted 280 exhibiting companies and surpassed expectations with 12,842 professional attendees, an 81-percent increase compared to 2005.

• Reed Exhibitions China canceled its international environmental protection show Pollutec China, scheduled for March 2008 at Intex Shanghai. Pollutec China was held each year since 2004.

The tradeshow will feature tasting, discussion, networking, education, research and debate. Attendees are expected from the international bar, restaurant and catering trade. Exhibitors will be major spirits brand producers and distributors, as well as worldwide niche and boutique brandmakers.

• The Ambattur Industrial Estate Manufacturers Assn. and the AIEMA Technology Centre will organize ACMEE 2008, an international machine tools and auto components exhibition, in Chennai, India, June 19-23. • Beginning July 27-31, 2008, a textile manufacturing exhibition, ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008, will be held biennially in Shanghai. The event will combine the ITMA ASIA – Asian Intl. Exhibition of Textile Machinery Asia and the China Intl. Exhibition Center will organize ITMA ASIA + CITME 2008. ITMA is owned by CEMATEX, an organization comprising nine national European textile machinery associations.
