Nursery/Landscape Expo

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/13/2007

Where: Dallas Convention Center (rotates)

When: Aug. 17–19 (annual)

Show manager and sponsor: Texas Nursery & Landscape Assn.

General service contractor: Freeman

Who exhibits: Manufacturers and distributors of horticultural and allied products, services and equipment

Who attends: Owners, buyers and managers of independent retail and wholesale nurseries, garden centers, allied industries, mass merchandisers, chain stores, and private and commercial landscape design and maintenance firms

2006 show statistics: 148,100 net sq. ft; 639 exhibitors; 4,983 attendees

First year of the show: 1954

New this year: Before the show opens on Aug. 17–18, education sessions for growers will be introduced, as well as sessions in Spanish.

The bottom line: The show slipped in the TSW 200 rankings from No. 176 for the 2005 show to No. 183 for 2006. Attendance, square footage and number of exhibitors were all down. Perhaps the move to Dallas for this year's show will give it the breath of fresh air it needs to climb back up the list.
