Crain Communications is expanding further into the plastics arena.
The company recently acquired Emap Communications, a Croydon, England-based publisher of polymer publications and events. The deal includes Plastics & Rubber Weekly; European Plastics News, a monthly publication; Plastics Design and Moulding; an annual industry awards event in the United Kingdom; and a series of 12 conferences in Europe.
Emap Publishing and Events Director Andrew Beevers will join Crain and head the Croydon office with a team of 18.
Crain promoted Tony Eagan, publisher of Plastics News, based in Akron, Ohio, to group publisher in charge of the three publications.
"This acquisition greatly extends the Plastics News brand into a key region where we had been previously underrepresented," Eagan said.
Emap launched the Plastics Design and Moulding show in 2005 as a three-day exhibition and conference in Telford, England, targeting U.K. designers, specifiers and manufacturers of plastic-molded products. The show is on an 18-month cycle. The last edition, held in September 2006, drew 2,890 attendees and 223 exhibitors to a 45,000 net square foot showfloor.
The show is scheduled next April 15–17 at Telford Intl. Centre in Telford.
