PPM Inks Conference Deal With IDC

PPM Media has signed a multi-year agreement with IDC's Industry Insights to provide a series of conferences and summits beginning in December for the information technology research and consultancy firm.
PPM President and CEO Phil McKay said his company will be the majority owner and organize the events for vertical sectors served by IDC, a subsidiary of IDG, with the consultancy providing the content for the summits.
"In the IT world, this is real big news," McKay said.
Although the exact dates and location have not yet been determined, the first event, dealing with energy issues, will take place in December in conjunction with Energy Insights, an IDC company.
It will be followed by six other events already scheduled through November 2008 in sectors ranging from manufacturing and health care to retailing and pharmaceuticals.
McKay said the events, similar to those he has organized in the past with Gartner Vision Events and Penton Media, will bring together invited executives from IT firms and industry vendors, Industry Insights analysts and others experts for one-on-one meetings, case study presentations, industry panels, networking events and industry award programs.
"Working with PPM allows us to offer the most focused face-to-face and educational environments for corporate leaders to meet the right partners and make the best technology decisions," said IDC Senior Vice President Dennis Philbin.
