Messe Friedrichshafen
Gary Tufel -- Tradeshow Week, 8/27/2007
Friedrichshafen is situated in the heart of Europe, at the point where Switzerland, Austria and Germany meet, making it a convenient exhibition location.
The trade fair facility, Neue Messe Friedrichshafen, next to Lake Constance, hosts between 15 and 17 international tradeshows and exhibitions annually, including major events such as AERO, OutDoor, Eurobike, Interboot and Fakuma (all organized by Messe Friedrichshafen management company).
Each year, approximately 6,000 companies exhibit their products and services for about 600,000 attendees at events held in Friedrichshafen.
The exhibition facility comprises 10 halls with 70,000 square meters (753,500 square feet) of indoor exhibit space and 12,000 sq. m. (129,000 sq. ft.) of additional space outside.
And it is about to grow. The company plans to add two new halls and 15,000 column-free sq. m. (161,500 sq. ft.) of exhibit space, as well as a new eastern entrance. It's scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008.
The €50 million ($67.4 million) expansion will place Friedrichshafen among Germany's 10 largest exhibition facilities, laying an important foundation for the continued success of Eurobike and OutDoor, Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Rolf Mohne said.
The space will come in handy. Eurobike has grown substantially in recent years and will require additional space in the future. Likewise with OutDoor, Mohne said.
The new buildings will feature arched roofs and colonnaded walkways consistent with the existing venue's design. The new exhibit halls will be connected by a central entry and exhibition area.
