CMP Technology Calls Off PC Game On
Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 8/27/2007
It's game off for PC Game On, a consumer PC game event. Manhasset, N.Y.-based CMP Technology recently canceled the event's launch "due to time and planning constraints," said Tara Gibb, director of marketing for the CMP Game Group, a division of CMP Technology.
"We are encouraging the community to submit questions and comments about how we can better serve the PC game market," she added.
The company released no further reason for the cancellation, and there are no plans for a future event.
CMP announced the launch of PC Game On at the beginning of June to shine light on a segment of the market that "is often considered to be overshadowed by the innovation taking place in console game development," Gibb told Tradeshow Week at the time.
The event was scheduled Sept. 8–9 at the Austin (Texas) Convention Center to take place on the heels of Austin Game Developers Conference, which is set to run Sept. 5–7 at the same venue.
PC Game On was to have highlighted computer hardware and software company support with new and pre-release PC games, a conference and tournaments.
