The Professional Convention Management Assn. will hold its 2010 Annual Meeting in Dallas. At the same time, the association discontinued the meeting's regional rotation.
The National Paper Trade Assn., also known as the NPTA Alliance, chose SmithBucklin as its full-service management company. The NPTA Alliance, the association for the paper, packaging and supplies distribution industry, will move from Farmingdale, N.Y., to SmithBucklin's Chicago offices. Two of SmithBucklin's immediate priorities for the NPTA Alliance were the association's September Annual Convention and the October DistriPakUSA tradeshow.
The World Sheep and Wool Congress will take place April 6–9, 2010, at the Sydney (Australia) Convention and Exhibition Centre in conjunction with the Royal Easter Show. Australia secured the event after a unanimous vote by the World Council of Sheep Breeders, defeating bids from Brazil and South Africa. It will be only the second time Australia has hosted the event in its 21-year history and will bring more than 1,000 delegates to the country.
IHG will use Passkey for online group reservations in more than 250 of its hotels, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza and select Holiday Inn properties. Passkey gives IHG event planners their own customized, event-specific hotel reservation Web site.
