Paris Expo Launching a Slew of Shows

Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 10/15/2007

Exhibitions are launched continually worldwide, but Paris Expo has a number of new ones planned between now and the end of the year. These shows join an array of other exhibitions making news around the world by either debuting, postponing or changing dates or locations.

  • Paris Expo launched the Transport and Logistics Employment Show, for employment in the transport sector, Oct. 11 in the Espace Champerret. VAE Expo — a takeaway snack and foods show — debuted Oct. 11–13 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles Hall 5. In the same hall, the first Salon du Chocolat Professionnel ("professional chocolate show") will take place Oct. 20–22 at the same time as the Chocolate Show for the general public. Paris Expo will also unveil the UAE France Partnership Forum 2007 Nov. 22–24 at the Carrousel du Louvre. It will be the first forum of its kind to be organized by the emirates in France and will highlight Dubai's partnership, investment opportunities and select tourism destinations. Paris Expo CNIT la Defense will be the site of two launches, the Care Services for the Elderly Show, Nov. 29–Dec. 1, and Health and Medical Research IDF, Dec. 17. In the Espace Champerret, Salon de la Vulgarisation ("science for everybody") will bow Nov. 30–Dec. 2 and the Health, Social Services and Paramedical Show, Dec. 15–16.
  • The annual XpoPharm and XpoChem events move this year to the Seoul Trade Exhibition & Convention Center, where they will showcase pharmaceutical and chemical products and services. Scheduled Nov. 8–9, the fairs will occupy 6,500 square meters (70,000 square feet) of exhibit space. In 2006, they covered 4,000 sq. m. (43,000 sq. ft.) and introduced 140 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions to 3,383 trade visitors from 30 countries. CMP Media Korea is the organizer of both fairs.
  • The Maharashtra Economic Development Council and government of Maharashtra will hold the international business exhibition Destination Maharashtra, Nov. 19–21 in Mumbai, India. The event will focus on infrastructure, including power, road, rail, aviation, ports, irrigation and telecom; soft infrastructure, such as education, health and housing; manufacturing of autos, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, textiles, and gems and jewelry; services, including finance and tourism; agriculture; and IT and communication.
  • Intl. CEO Forum Organizer Seven Smulders said the booming economy of the United Arab Emirates is fueling growth in the tradeshow business. That has prompted the move of the Intl. CEO Forum from Europe to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where exhibition organizer CEOs can learn more about the local exhibition industry. The sixth annual ICF will take place in the Dubai World Trade Centre Jan. 23–25. This year's forum was at Spain's Barcelona Intl. Convention Centre.
  • Allworld Exhibitions announced new dates for its Food Hotel & Tourism Bali 2008, Feb. 28–March 1, at the Bali Intl. Convention Centre in Nusa Dua. The event was originally scheduled Feb. 7–9. The show is on track to break all its own records, according to organizer Ian Roberts. FHT Bali 2008, incorporating Retail Indonesia 2008, is the sixth in the series. The 2006 show drew around 260 exhibiting companies from nearly 30 countries and more than 5,000 visitors.
  • Amsterdam RAI is organizing the first edition of the Aquatech tradeshow brand in China. Amsterdam RAI is a partner in WQA Aquatech USA, the Water Quality Assn.'s North American show, as well as the biennial Aquatech Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Aquatech China is scheduled May 28–30 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Amsterdam RAI expects it to draw visitors from the water supply and treatment industries in China and Southeast Asia.
  • Reed Exhibitions will stage Aluminium China 2008 May 28–30 at the China Import and Export Fair Pazhou Complex in Guangzhou. It's the first time for the show in Guangzhou, where it will continue to be held in even years. Shanghai will host the show in odd years.
  • CIE — China Intl. Exhibitions, a member of Allworld Exhibitions, announced that FHC Beijing will not be held next year. What would have been the seventh international exhibition of retail and hospitality products and services was scheduled June 4–6. The onetime annual event will now be held every two years, with the next edition scheduled June 9–11, 2009, at the China World Trade Centre. CIE said it was making the change because the 2008 Olympics in Beijing take place during the summer, and China's central government has blocked venues in Beijing for the run-up to the games. Therefore, the show organizer is not certain to have the use of the China World Trade Centre or another suitable venue.
  • Australian Exhibitions & Conferences will launch the biennial WA Safety Show and Conference in Perth, Australia, Aug. 12–14. The workplace safety tradeshow comes from the same company that produces the Melbourne-based Safety in Action and Safety Show Sydney, which attract more than 10,000 visitors each annually, and the two-year-old Queensland Safety Show. AEC expects the WA Safety Show to span 7,000 sq. m. (75,300 sq. ft.) of exhibit space, because of strong demand from exhibitors at other safety shows, said Managing Director Marie Kinsella.
  • Qatar Expo Events Management will launch the trade and consumer Intl. Wedding Exhibition & Fashion Show Doha 2008, May 4–7 at the New Qatar Intl. Exhibition Centre. IWED, billed as Qatar's first major wedding event, will feature fashion shows of wedding gowns and evening wear designs from international and regional fashion designers, seminars presenting hair and make-up styles from Qatar, Egypt and Lebanon, and more than 100 exhibits of wedding products and services from wedding planners, fashion designers, wedding gift suppliers, flower designers, honeymoon organizers, footwear designers, catering companies, jewelry designers, hair and beauty products and stylists, and hotel groups.
