Equine Flu Delays Australian Show

The latest roundup of global exhibition news includes show launches and postponements from far-flung places, with an emphasis on India and China.
Definitive Events postponed its Nov. 15-18 Equitana Asia Pacific 2007 in Melbourne, Australia, because of an equine flu epidemic in the country. The event, held every two years, will now take place Nov. 20-23, 2008, so the effects of the equine influenza threat can be managed. Definitive launched the offshoot of Essen, Germany-based Equitana in 1999. The equine influenza outbreak has already led to the cancellation of several horse races and Olympic qualifying rounds in Australia, with the hope that precautions will prevent the spread of the disease beyond the Australian state of Victoria.
Because of industry demand for more than one home décor show annually, Shanghai CMP Sinoexpo will expand its Home Fashion & Design Shanghai to twice a year, beginning Nov. 29-Dec. 2 at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. On display will be furniture, kitchens and bathrooms, home appliances and decorative materials. Top-end consumer categories, youth fashions and high-end furnishings are the main targets of the November edition, which will focus on retail and brand promotion. The April edition will cater to interior designers, real estate developers and hotel designers.
CMP Asia will debut the Macau Jewellery & Watch Fair Jan. 10-13 at the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Center at The Venetian Macao. More than 300 exhibitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Turkey and the United States will have more than 700 booths on the showfloor. CMP Asia expects national pavilions from the Netherlands, Israel, Korea and Turkey. The company also organizes the Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair .
Comexpo Paris and the Russian Assn. of Automotive Component Manufacturers will launch Equip Auto Moscow Feb. 27-March 1 at the Crocus Expo Intl. Exhibition Center. Comexpo also produces Equip Auto at the Parc d’Expositions at Paris-Nord and Equip Auto Algeria at SAFEX Exhibition Park in Algiers, Algeria. Like the Paris show, Equip Auto Moscow is an international event for the vehicle and garage supplies industry that is expected to feature about 300 exhibitors.
Audace Intl. Fairs will launch the Intl. Wedding Trade Fair 2008 April 3-4 at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Attendees will include merchants and suppliers to the wedding industry. Since 1993, Audace has organized more than 40 wedding exhibitions, including the Hong Kong Wedding & Banquet Expo .
Messe Frankfurt India will re-launch Beautyworld India , its cosmetic, health care and wellness exhibition, Oct. 3-6 as part of its international Beautyworld brand. First held in 2001 as Beauty & Health India , the show will take place at the Bombay Exhibition Centre. Attendees come from training centers and publishers in India and abroad. Messe Frankfurt’s other Beautyworld events are in Frankfurt, Germany; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The Millionaire Fair in Shanghai will take place Oct. 10-12 under a new name, The Fair – In Assn. with Millionaire Fair , according to organizer VNU Exhibitions Asia.
Bahrain will host the debut of food tec middle east , an international food, beverage and packaging technology exhibition and conference, and food+hospitality middle east , an international food, beverage and hospitality exhibition. The shows will run concurrently at the Bahrain Intl. Exhibition & Convention Centre Oct. 19-21. Bahrain Exhibition & Convention Authority and fairtrade Messe und Ausstellungs organize the shows.
Messe Frankfurt’s Light Russia Intl. Interior Light Salon will debut at the Crocus Expo Intl. Exhibition Center in Moscow Nov. 11-14, 2008. The show will take place in conjunction with the Ambiente Russia Autumn Intl. Trade Fair for Consumer Goods and the Furniture Club show. Light Russia will feature the entire range of high-end decorative lights, lamps and accessories, displayed by about 50 exhibitors in 1,500 square meters (16,100 square feet). Messe Frankfurt expects about 2,000 attendees.
Reed Exhibitions Messe Wien will launch an international book fair, Buch Wien , Nov. 20-23 at Messe Wien in Vienna. The consumer show, with an international trade attendance section, is an expansion of the traditional Book Week held at Vienna City Hall, produced in conjunction with the Austrian Federal Government, Vienna Municipal Council and the Hauptverband des osterreichischen Buchhandels, the main Austrian book trade association.
Inter Ads-Brooks Exhibitions (India), a joint venture between Mack Brooks Exhibitions and India-based Inter Ads, will launch INDTEX 2009 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre – NSE Complex in Mumbai, India, March 31-April 2, 2009. The new exhibition will feature textile technology, equipment and services, showcasing the latest textile manufacturing solutions. Mack Brooks also produces ATME-I for the American Textile Machinery Assn., the Euroblech sheet metal exhibition in Hanover, Germany, and the Blech Business series of forum events. The company will also debut an exhibition for sheet metal technology, equipment and services, Sheet Metal India 2009 .
