World Religious Travel Event Debuts
By Staff -- Tradeshow Week, 11/12/2007
The World Religious Travel Assn. presented the first annual World Religious Travel Expo & Educational Conference Oct. 29-Nov. 1 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando.
WRTA President Kevin Wright said he expected the show to attract 400 attendees and feature about 100 booths in 20,000 net square feet of exhibit space. Exhibitors were travel suppliers and destinations interested in attracting faith-based travelers.
Although religious tourism is one of history's oldest travel segments, Wright added, a large-scale tradeshow for the 300-million traveler market had never been held before. The exhibition highlighted all the unique segments of the market, such as pilgrimages, missions, religion-oriented vacations, conferences, retreats, youth camps and volunteer vacations.
The educational conference offered programs about opportunities in new niche markets within faith tourism, market trends, marketing intelligence, and the latest products and services. Travel industry experts presented product seminars to group planners, including information on how to enrich and expand their travel ministry programs.
