Mandalay Bay Scores Again

Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino has reeled in another Tradeshow Week 200-ranked booking: this time, Licensing Intl.
The show’s sponsor, Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Assn., said it supported management firm Advanstar Communications’ decision to move Licensing Intl. from its current home at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center of New York to Las Vegas starting with the June 2-4, 2009, edition. This year’s show is scheduled June 10-12 at the Javits.
“The future location of Licensing Intl. Expo has been reviewed and debated extensively for the past several months,” LIMA President Charles Riotto said in a statement. “In the end, our board of directors felt that relocating the show to Las Vegas is in the best interest of our industry and unanimously supported Advanstar’s decision.”
Advanstar and LIMA declined to say how far into the future they were holding space at Mandalay Bay for the show.
The show was No. 130 on the most recent TSW 200. The June 2007 edition of the event spanned 208,000 net square feet of exhibit space and attracted 520 exhibiting companies and an estimated 24,000 attendees, including exhibit personnel. Freeman has been and will remain its general service contractor.
Mandalay Bay has made similar news in recent weeks by landing a few large-scale Hanley Wood events.
