Shows Launched Around the World

-- Tradeshow Week, 2/18/2008

News from the exhibition world includes news of launches in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as well as Germany, China, Bulgaria, Singapore and India.

Feria Valencia of Spain will debut New Feria Valencia Concepts March 4-6 at the Dubai Intl. Exhibition and Convention Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of a campaign to introduce Spanish products and services to the region and the rest of the Middle East. The show, expected to span 4,000 square meters (43,000 square feet), will focus on home decor, real estate and construction, children's fashion and childcare products.

Reed Exhibitions canceled the ITnT Prague 2008 information technology and telecommunications show, scheduled April 23-24 at the Prague (Czech Republic) Congress Centre. Reed Exhibitions said the number of exhibitors who signed up wasn't sufficient and future plans would be determined after discussions with representative associations and key exhibitors.

The CRIO Group will launch a new edition of its CRIO international tradeshow for the optics industry Sept. 13-14 at Nuremberg (Germany) Messe. The event is for the spectacles, optical and accessories sector. The original edition of CRIO, held semiannually, will next take place Aug. 30-31 at Messe Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany, where 180 exhibitors and almost 10,000 professional attendees are expected.

CMP Asia will launch the Pan-Asian Watch Salon Sept. 25-28 at the Cotai Strip Convention and Exhibition Centre at the Venetian in Macau, China. The new business platform for internationally recognized watch brands will host selected exhibitors to enable them to meet watch retailers from all over Asia, as well as invited collectors and aficionados.

n The first edition of the Balkan Entertainment and Gaming Expo will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at Sofia, Bulgaria's Inter Expo Center. The show, produced by the Bulgarian Trade Assn. of Manufacturers and Operators in the Gaming Industry, is for operators, vendors, manufacturers, regulators, consultants and experts in the industry. It will be collocated with the Eastern European Gaming Summit.

The Intl. Colored Gemstone Assn. will launch the ICGA Intl. Gem Fair Dubai 2008 Oct. 13-15 at the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre in Dubai, U.A.E. The event is for manufacturers, instrument makers, traders and service providers in the colored gem industry. According to the ICGA, it expects more than 150 exhibitors from around the world.

Messe Berlin's ITB ASIA, for the travel industry, will debut and collocate with the WIT-Web In Travel conference in Singapore's Suntec City. WIT will be held Oct. 21-22, while ITB Asia takes place Oct. 22-24. WIT founder Yeoh Siew Hoon said ITB Asia will focus on the travel technology and online travel segment of the travel industry. At the same time, WIT wanted a larger platform, which the ITB brand will provide. WIT will run its own event, retaining control over its programming and management, while helping ITB Asia with marketing to potential exhibitors. WIT was launched in 2005 with support from the Singapore Tourism Board, also instrumental in bringing ITB Asia to Singapore.

The Bangalore Intl. Exhibition Centre, the Confederation of Indian Industry and Deutsche Messe will launch BuildArch 2008 and Build Up 2008 concurrently Oct. 21-24 at India's Bangalore Intl. Exhibition Center. The international event is for architecture, building and construction, property investments and development opportunities. It will be the first time the three organizations have organized an exhibition together. The events will take place concurrently every other year.

MM Business Exhibitions will debut an international spa convention and tradeshow, Future Spa 2008, Dec. 5-6 at the Baden-Baden Congress Center (Kongreshaus) in Baden-Baden, Germany. The Heilbaderverband (Assn. of Spas), German Central Organization for Tourism and British Intl. Spa Assn. are supporting the event.
