International Roundup: Penton Wireless Event Goes Abroad

-- Tradeshow Week, 3/3/2008

New shows continue to spring up from Australia to Italy to England, with show changes announced in far-flung corners of the globe, including an unusual number in Africa.

Eurovet's Salon International de la Lingerie for lingerie, leisure wear, swimwear, cosmetics and accessories will be held one week earlier next year, Jan. 18-21, at the Paris Porte de Versailles. This year the show was held Jan. 24-27. Angele Sitbon, Eurovet head of communications, said show managers were reluctant to hold the show so late in the month, and retailers wanted an extra day, the Saturday before the show opens, to spend more time in Paris.

HPP Exhibitions postponed the Hortec 2008 floriculture exhibition and conference, scheduled March 12-14 at the Kenyatta Intl. Conference Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, because of unstable political conditions in the country. HPP officials said the tradeshow would be held later in the year if the current turmoil has been resolved.

Toronto-based Primus Exhibitions will launch Athletic Build Sochi 2008 April 14-17 at the Zhemchuzhina (Pearl) Complex in Sochi, Russia. Sochi will be the site of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The construction industry exhibition, expected to span 6,000 square meters (64,500 square feet), is designed for investors interested in developing construction projects in the region.

At least 1,000 participants are expected at the first TINAPA Intl. Trade Exhibition in Calabar, Nigeria, April 25-May 3. Organized by Whizzo Promotions in association with the TINAPA Business and Leisure Resort Calabar, the show will focus on leisure and business visitors in industries that Nigerian officials said they hoped to develop in the future, such as tourism and agriculture.

Organizers Messe Duesseldorf and Intl. Fairs and Promotions canceled the sixth annual Beirut Boat show because Lebanon's current political and economic situation did not allow it to be held in a safe environment, they said. The show had been scheduled May 14-18 in Beirut's La Marina Joseph Khoury.

Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions changed the dates of the collocated API China and Interphex China pharmaceutical tradeshows in the Dalian (China) World Expo Center because of changes in the facility's show calendar. The event was moved from May 20-22 to May 12-14.

London-based ITE Group and FSG Communications, in association with Redsquare Africa, will launch the Nigerian Intl. Gas Conference & Exhibition May 20-23 at the Abuja Intl. Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria. The international exhibition and conference agenda will offer networking events and an opportunity for companies to raise their profiles in Nigeria, which is seeking to reposition itself as a stronger player in the global gas market.

Messe Frankfurt postponed its annual Auto + Automechanika St. Petersburg and shortened it by a day. It will be held at the Lenexpo Exhibition Centre in St. Petersburg, Russia, Oct. 29-31 rather than Oct. 22-26.

The last day of the Silmo Mondial de l'Optique 2008 optics and eyewear exhibition, scheduled Oct. 30-Nov. 3, has been trimmed. The tradeshow, organized by Comexpo, will take place at the Paris Porte de Versailles.

Medical Conferences Intl., a subsidiary of Tarsus Group, will launch the Dubai Congress on Anti-Aging & Aesthetic Medicine, Nov. 7-9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, United Arab Emirates, with the support of the World Academy of Anti-aging Medicine, the American Academy of Anti-aging Medicine and the recently formed Arabian Academy of Anti-aging Medicine. The congress will allow anti-aging suppliers to display their treatments to Middle Eastern physicians and health care professionals.

Canon Communications will launch the Green Manufacturing Exhibition and Conference; hold it in conjunction with its Medtec UK, MTEC, Machine Building and Automation, IPOT, 3C, Practical Vacuum and Vision Technology Exhibition shows; and call the new event Advanced Manufacturing UK 2009. The combined event will be March 25-26, 2009, at the Natl. Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, England. The Green Manufacturing Exhibition is expected to attract 100 exhibitors offering eco-friendly products and services for sustainable manufacturing processes.
