Jill Birkett was named event director for the cosmetics and fragrances division of CMPi, producer of HBA Global Expo events. Birkett will manage the annual HBA Global Expo and Educational Conference and oversee future growth of the HBA brands.
Gerald Boese, currently CEO of Karlsruhe Messe, was named CEO of Koelnmesse effective April 1. He succeeds CEO and President Jochen Witt, who left the post in April, and Herbert Marner, who has filled the position on an interim basis. Marner will return to Koelnmesse's board. Karlsruhe Messe named the head of its personnel, legal and finance division, Klaus Hoffmann, to succeed Boese as CEO.
The Center for Exhibition Industry Research named Cathy Breden its executive director. She will continue to serve as COO of the Intl. Assn. of Exhibitions and Events and executive director of IAEE Services. Doug Ducate will remain president and CEO of CEIR.
Dmg world media named Andrea Canady fair director of the newly formed North America management division of Art & Antiques Fairs. She is responsible for the Original Miami Beach Antiques Show and the New York, Las Vegas and Miami Beach Antique Jewelry and Watch Shows.
Stacy M. Mantzaris joined event-Acuity as vice president of business development.
The Advertising Specialty Institute named Mark Quinn CFO.
Thomas Schlitt will take over the newly created position of director of foreign ventures development at NuerembergMesse. He was previously project manager for international fairs at Messe Muenchen.
SmithBucklin named Diane Swenson president of the Natl. Lumber and Building Material Dealers Assn. Swenson will work from SmithBucklin's Washington, D.C., office, and manage all aspects of NLBMDA's operations, including tradeshows and conferences.
Ovations Food Service at Cincinnati's Duke Energy Center hired Marc Trottier as executive chef.
