Springtime Goes Green
-- Tradeshow Week, 3/31/2008
Yet another industry event is jumping on the green bandwagon.
Sustainability is a new feature at this year's Springtime Expo April 3 at the Washington (D.C.) Convention Center. Attendees will have biodegradable badge holders and lanyards, as well as tote bags made from 100-percent recycled material, according to the ASAE & The Center for Assn. Leadership, which is hosting the event that connects meeting planners and association executives with suppliers.
“We are taking steps to ensure our meetings are more environmentally friendly, in conjunction with our social responsibility initiative,” said John H. Graham IV, ASAE president and CEO.
Following the event, ASAE will donate all leftover nonperishable items to DC Central Kitchen.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host another Springtime Expo and are working hard to raise the bar yet again,” said Susan Sarfati, president and CEO of The Center for Association Leadership and executive vice president of ASAE.
Eleven education sessions will be available, covering topics such as planning international or environmentally friendly meetings, negotiating hotel rates and dealing with the government. Recordings of most of the sessions and handouts will be available online following the event.
During the general session, Jack Canfield, founder and CEO of Chicken Soup for the Soul Enterprises, will share ideas from his new book “The Success Principles.”
Full-day registration for Springtime is $115 for members of ASAE & The Center or $130 for non-members.
