GES Expands International Services
-- Tradeshow Week, 3/31/2008
Have freight that needs to get to a tradeshow in China, Germany or Dubai, United Arab Emirates? Worse, need to get something to the United States from one of those countries, but organizing the logistics seems like a nightmare?
Las Vegas-based GES Exposition Services recently announced that the company has joined a network of international exhibition freight forwarders that will allow it to provide transportation services from an exhibitor's home country to anywhere in the world.
Phil Monforte, GES senior director of logistics and transportation, said international exhibitors like doing business with companies in their own countries, who speak the same language and work in the same time zone.
“We've created a model where we can accommodate those exhibitors' likes,” he added.
Monforte said GES formalized the service last year, and so far has provided it for exhibitors at the Society for Information Display Intl. Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition; Cosmoprof; and Global Pet Expo. Cosmoprof exhibitors have the service available to them again this year.
“It's a really new and unique program,” said Mike Kovac, GES director of international logistics. Kovac was hired this year to support GES Logistics' international services.
The service includes international air, ocean and surface transportation, as well as customs and on-site material handling at the show, Kovac added.
“We've gotten good responses from our exhibitors,” Monforte said.
