Messe Muenchen Replaces ispo

-- Tradeshow Week, 3/31/2008

This week, there are launches, cancellations and postponements from Ukraine to Azerbaijan to New Delhi, from the Spanish Balearic Islands to Nairobi to Munich, and from Rome to Australia.

Messe Muenchen suspended until further notice its ispo summer show for sports equipment and apparel, scheduled June 29-July 1 at the Munich (Germany) Trade Fair Centre. Instead, jointly with the Les Group, Messe Muenchen will launch the Running Order Show during ispo's former dates. Collocating with Sports Source Europe, it will feature athletic footwear, apparel and accessories.

Koelnmesse and the government of the Balearic Islands in Spain decided not to stage Art Cologne Palma de Mallorca 2008, originally slated Sept. 18-21. Koelnmesse Managing Director Oliver P. Kuhrt said Koelnmesse would focus instead on restructuring Art Cologne and the Cologne market.

ITE Uzbekistan, an affiliate of ITE Exhibitions & Conferences, will launch Machinery Central Asia Oct. 2-4 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan's Uzexpocentre. The first Central Asian exhibition for machinery, engineering and automation will be supported by the Uzbekistan Ministry of Geology and Minerals, Academy of Science and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Another ITE partner, Iteca Caspian, will launch the Azerbaijan Intl. Book Fair as part of Education & Career 2008, the 2nd Azerbaijan Intl. Education and Career Exhibition and Conference, Oct. 2-4 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The tradeshow will present scientific and literary publications from Azerbaijan and other countries. Iteca Caspian organizes about 30 exhibitions and conferences each year in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

HHP Exhibitions announced new dates for Hortec Kenya 2008 after political unrest in Kenya had forced it to postpone the tradeshow. Hortec will now take place at the KICC in Nairobi, Kenya, Nov. 5-7.

Maritime Security India 2008, for the maritime and naval sectors, will debut Nov. 6-8 at the India Expo Centre Expo XXI in New Delhi. Informa, in association with Lloyd's List, the international maritime and transport newspaper, will produce the event, collocated with the Network Enabled Capability Exhibition 2008.

Fiera Roma and Expo Comm Events, owned jointly by E.J. Krause & Associates and Reed Exhibitions, will launch Expo Comm Italia at the Fiera Roma New Intl. Exhibition Center Dec. 2-4. Highlighting innovations in the telecommunications sector, it will join eight major Expo Comm events around the world.

Premier Expo, part of the ITE Group, will debut WinTecExpoUkraine Jan. 19-22 at Kiev, Ukraine's Intl. Exhibition Centre. It is the first of a number of exhibitions planned for the window industry by the ITE Group of London and GIMA of Hamburg, Germany. WinTecExpo evolved from the Windows & Doors sections of ITE's building and interiors exhibitions. The shows eventually will take place in Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan.

Messe Duesseldorf acquired the metallurgical tradeshow Stainless from Verlag Focus Rostfrei and plans to collocate it with the Intl. Stainless Steel Congress in Brno, Czech Republic, April 7-9, 2009. Trade Fairs Brno, a subsidiary of Messe Duesseldorf, will now organize Stainless. The two biennial events previously took place in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Canon Communications will launch Medtec France April 22-23, 2009, in Besancon, France. The exhibition and conference join the company's lineup of Medtec tradeshows that serve Europe's medical device manufacturing sector with shows in Ireland, the United Kingdom and Germany.

Global Sources will launch the India Sourcing Fair: Home Products in April 2009 and collocate it with the China Sourcing Fair: Home Products at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo. Global Sources Executive Director Sarah Benecke said it would be the first exhibition of Indian suppliers to be held in Hong Kong.
