What’s in a name? Apparently, a great deal.
As of Jan. 31, Fed Ex Kinko’s has taken over management of the three Las Vegas Convention Center business centers from Encore Productions. The business centers are now known as FedEx Kinko’s Office and Print Centers. The company has a five-year contract with the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority to operate them.
The day TSW Las Vegas visited the centers, customer Kevin Scott was at a counter asking for help locating some UPS packages. Asked what he thought of the new name, Scott said it was “trustworthy,” adding, “You always seem to find a FedEx Kinko’s when you need one.”
In September 1970, California boasted the first and only Kinko’s store. Today, the company operates convention center office and print centers in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Minneapolis, Anaheim and San Diego.
Open for business seven days a week, the center houses a permanent staff of 15 that can, during a busy convention, be increased to 40 or more.

“We are fortunate in that we can bring in fully trained personnel from our Las Vegas stores as we need them,” said Mark Taylor, FedEx Kinko’s district manager.
The FedEx Kinko’s approach to business services is, as much as possible, self-serve. Walk into the business center in the LVCC Central Hall, and you’ll see racks and stacks of office supplies for shoppers to select. A row of computers lines one wall.
Also available in the centers are luggage, coat and bag check and storage services. Customers with FedEx Kinko’s customer cards can use them in the LVCC centers.
Taylor noted that the cost of LVCC convenience “may not” be the same as in local FedEx Kinko’s stores.
