Nashville CVB Gives $100K to ASAE
-- Tradeshow Week, 4/7/2008
The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau contributed $100,000 to ASAE & The Center for Assn. Leadership's effort to help associations integrate social responsibility into their everyday operations.
The gift, to be spread out over four years, will help with ASAE & The Center's Social Responsibility Initiative, intended to focus on the environment, world poverty and the fact that acting responsibly is good business, according to ASAE. The initiative previously received a $500,000 seed grant from the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation.
ASAE & The Center also will host the first Global Summit on Social Responsibility April 30-May 2 at the Gaylord Natl. Resort & Convention Center in Natl. Harbor, Md. ASAE spokesman Jakub M. Konysz said nearly 300 participants have already registered for the event that, along with the initiative, was announced at ASAE & The Center's Annual Meeting & Expo in Chicago last August.
“The Social Responsibility Initiative highlights the powerful role that strategic socially responsible practices, goals and principles can play in strengthening associations,” Konysz said. “Associations are now in a unique tipping-point position to lead global efforts to resolve complex social, economic and environmental problems.”
