DMAI Accredits Seven More Groups
-- Tradeshow Week, 4/7/2008
The Destination Marketing Assn. Intl. has given seven more destination marketing organizations official accreditation status. DMAI designed the program, which 47 organizations have now completed, to set certain standards for DMOs and convention and visitors bureaus.
In this latest application cycle, DMAI accredited the following organizations:
- Atlantic City (N.J.) Convention & Visitors Authority
- Greater Hartford (Conn.) Convention & Visitors Bureau
- Lafayette (La.) Convention & Visitors Commission
- Quad Cities (Ill.) Convention & Visitors Bureau
- Tourism Richmond (British Columbia)
- Virginia Beach (Va.) Convention & Visitors Bureau
- Visit Charlotte, Charlotte (N.C.) Regional Visitors Authority
DMAI President and CEO Michael D. Gehrisch said he hoped the accreditation program would lead to increased credibility with customers. Earning the DMAI accreditation, he added, assures members of the local DMO, government officials, visitors and business partners that their trust in the DMO is well-placed.
To receive accreditation, a DMO must successfully complete an application process that requires evidence of compliance with 54 mandatory and 33 voluntary standards.
