Smart City, Tropicana See Management Changes

Smart City Networks has made some significant changes and employee promotions, while Tropicana Entertainment has hired a new president.
• After eight years as company president and 20 years in the industry, Paul Ashley will retire from Smart City July 1. Prior to joining the company in 2000, Ashley was general manager of AT&T Cable Services in Illinois. He will remain with Smart City as a member of its board of directors. A national search for his replacement is underway.
• Twenty-nine-year Smart City veteran Keith McNeely has been promoted to senior director of technology services for Las Vegas-based operations. In his new role, McNeely will oversee all operations, including the Smart City team at the Las Vegas Convention Center and the hotel operations of subsidiary Priority Networks at Bally’s Las Vegas, Paris Las Vegas, Caesars Palace and the Las Vegas Hilton.
• Chris Martinkovich has been promoted to general manager of Smart City’s team at the LVCC. Martinkovich has been with Smart City for 10 years and in the convention industry for 17 years.
• Priscilla Acierto has been promoted to manager of customer sales and service for Priority Networks’ Las Vegas hotel customers. Acierto has been with the company for two years.
• Tropicana Entertainment, the parent company of the Tropicana Casino & Resort, recently named Scott Butera president. In his new role, Butera will lead the senior management team in developing a strategy to improve the company’s capital structure and operations. Butera was previously COO of the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino and executive vice president of Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts. He is a former investment banker with a 15-year focus on the gaming, lodging and leisure industries.
