Chinese Sports Shows Collocate

The latest world exhibition news includes the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers' launch of a construction show in Moscow, the combination of two Chinese winter sports shows and the relocation and date change of a pharmaceutical show in India, as well as other tradeshow news from points around the globe.
Reed Exhibitions' pharmaceutical tradeshow Interphex India 2008 will move from Mumbai, India, where it had been scheduled May 29-31, to Hyderabad's HITEX Exhibition Centre Aug. 28-30. Reed Exhibitions officials said Hyderabad's long history as a center for generic pharmaceuticals prompted the move.
The iF Intl. Forum Design of Hannover, Germany; Taiwan Design Center of Taipei; and Uniplan of Taiwan, Taipei, will launch the Intl. Universal Design Expo 2008 Aug. 28-31 in Taipei, Taiwan's Eslite Xinyi Store. Exhibitors will include companies, associations, government agencies and universities under the theme of universal design.
Charly Expo of Montsoult, France, will launch a shoe fair, Mess Around, Sept. 7-9 in Paris. Its first day will coincide with the last day of the Paris fashion fair weekend featuring the footwear show Midec, which will combine this year with leather goods tradeshow Salon de la Maroquinerie. Mess Around is expected to have about 200 shoe exhibitors at the Docks de St. Denis. The show will take place four times a year, featuring children's and sportswear shoes in January and July and women's and men's footwear in March and September.
The Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers will launch CONEXPO Russia for the construction, forestry and utility industries Sept. 15-18 at Moscow's Crocus Expo Intl. Exhibition Center. It is expected to draw 20,000 attendees, and more than 180 companies have signed on to exhibit so far.
Asia Fastener, a tradeshow for fasteners, components, parts and related production technology, will debut Sept. 24-26 at the Guangzhou (China) Intl. Convention and Exhibition Centre. About 150 exhibitors in 6,000 square meters (64,600 square feet) are expected by organizer Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt. Products to be displayed will include tools and supplies for use in different manufacturing industries.
The ADIJEX – Abu Dhabi Intl. Jewellery and Watch Show was renamed JWS – Intl. Jewellery and Watch Show Abu Dhabi and will be held Oct. 22-26 by Reed Exhibitions in the Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) Natl. Exhibition Centre. Reed purchased the exhibition last year from Trans Continental Fairs Management in Dubai, U.A.E. Reed Exhibitions also purchased the Abu Dhabi Intl. Motor Show from Trans Continental and moved its previous dates back a month to take place Dec. 17-21 at the ADNEC. Tuning, auto accessories and commercial vehicles also will be added as exhibit sections.
Deutsche Messe's latest exhibition venture into India is the launch, with the Bangalore Intl. Exhibition Centre and the Confederation of Indian Industry, of the biennial BuildArch 2008 Oct. 21-24 at the Bangalore facility. The show, for the architecture, building and construction industries, is expected to span 20,000 sq. m. (215,200 sq. ft.) of exhibition space.
Expomedia Events UK, part of the Expomedia Group, announced the launch of Private Label UK, calling it the United Kingdom's first dedicated private label exhibition. Private Label UK will take place alongside World Food Market London Nov. 26-27 at the ExCel London Intl. Exhibition and Conference Centre.
Brintex Events changed the named of its DIY & Garden Show to Totally DIY. The show will have a new look and floorplan to focus attention on new products. The do-it-yourself and garden show name change was made to reflect the wide array of products sold through home improvement retail channels, and to complement sister show Totally Tools, Brintex said. The show will collocate with Totally Tools Jan. 18-20 at Earls Court Two in London.
Reed Middle East and Reed Midem will launch Global City Abu Dhabi 2009. Global City's fifth edition will be held Jan. 20-21 for the first time in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., and also for the first time outside Europe, addressing sustainability and global warming issues. Several hundred attendees are expected, including local elected representatives from around the world, private and public sector players and consultants. Reed launched Global City 2005 in Cannes, France, and the second and third editions of the event were held in Lyon, France, in 2006 and 2007. The last Global City in May 2007 attracted about 900 participants from 46 countries to hear about urban planning solutions adopted by cities from around the world.
