ASAE Breaks Membership Record
-- Tradeshow Week, 6/9/2008
ASAE & The Center for Assn. Leadership recently accomplished not one, but two goals: It broke membership recruitment records for both a month and a quarter. In April, the organization signed up 582 new members; in the first quarter, 1,446, a 15-percent increase compared with the same period in 2007.
According to ASAE & The Center, membership now stands at 23,000, the highest it's been since April 2003.
“This is a significant membership increase for ASAE & The Center,” said ASAE President and CEO John Graham. “We attribute this success to a heightened awareness of our core products and services and new membership offers for small staff associations and young professionals.”
ASAE & The Center's new Small Staff All Staff membership allows CEOs from associations with five or fewer employees who join at the regular rate of $295 to extend special group benefits to the rest of their staffs for a fixed rate of $150.
The young professional membership is offered to what the association calls “rising stars,” those under 30 years of age who are beginning their careers in the association field. Being young has its advantages: The rate is $100 per year and gives young professionals access to online learning programs, discounts on professional development opportunities, invitations to career development events and access to the Emerging Leaders online community.
According to ASAE & The Center, of the new members recruited in 2008, 260 are association CEOs, 1,412 are association staff professionals, 310 are industry partners and 60 are consultants. In addition, approximately 60 percent are from outside Washington, D.C., while 8 percent are from outside the United States.
