Readers Speak: Best Spots for Health Care

-- Tradeshow Week, 6/16/2008

What's one prescription for a healthy health care sector show? The best host city possible. Contributing Editor Gary Tufel asked some health care show managers the cities they liked best and why.

“Cygnus produces EMS Expo, ... (which) is collocated with Cygnus's Firehouse Central and the Natl. Assn. of Emergency Medical Technicians Annual Meeting and Pre-conference.

“We always have our best attendance in Las Vegas. The city of lights is a good landing point for the event in offering attendees great value, entertainment and a wide selection of restaurants; and the Las Vegas Convention Center has provided exhibiting companies a good overall experience with booth setup and teardown.”

“Chicago is my favorite city to host a tradeshow, not only because of the size and flexibility of the convention center, but also because the city has a lot to offer in terms of architecture, dining and cultural experience.

“McCormick Place is one of the few convention centers that can accommodate the RSNA (Radiological Society of North America Scientific Assembly & Annual Meeting) meeting. More than 750 companies participate each year and need more than 500,000 square feet of exhibit space to display state-of-the-art medical imaging equipment and other radiology products and services. It's not easy to coordinate such a large tradeshow in other convention centers.”

“Having just held our tradeshow and conference in Hawaii using the Hyatt Regency Waikiki as our headquarters and the Starwood properties and holding exhibits and sessions at the Hawai`i Convention Center, I can attest to how exceptionally pleased our attendees were. The hotel staffs were a pleasure to work with, and the convention center is aesthetically pleasing, functional and extremely well-run with an exceptional management and services team.”
