Baby Boomer Show Set for Launch
-- Tradeshow Week, 6/16/2008
As they have been their whole lives, baby boomers are the prime demographic target market everyone aims for. That's the rationale behind a new show, Festival of the Wise, that will be launched Dec. 6-7 at the Scottsdale (Ariz.) Center for the Performing Arts.
According to show management, the inaugural event will have 100 exhibitors with live product demonstrations as well as music, art, food, wine and lifestyle workshops.
“The Festival of the Wise creates an environment where baby boomers can have fun, explore their passions and learn about new products that can benefit their lives,” said Paul DeLuca, the show's director of sales. “We're pleased to have this dynamic group, who have an enthusiasm for enjoying life and energetically explore new horizons.”
The show will remain at the same venue in Scottsdale through 2010, DeLuca added. “The intent is to replicate it also, probably to the East Coast in 2009,” he said.
The Festival of the Wise will be an indoor-outdoor event that DeLuca said he hoped would attract more than 7,000 consumers in the “highly desirable 50-plus age group that collectively spends more than $2 trillion annually on goods and services.”
Beyond the exhibitions, the show has a number of other activities on tap, including six conference tracks with content on health, money, travel, technology, real estate and lifestyle; a Saturday night outdoor concert; an arts and crafts village with hands-on workshops; and wine, beer and food tastings.
