Organizer Takes Over Public Shows

After more than two decades as a show manager for other companies, Joyce Mockus launched D & D Expositions, a privately held event company that will produce three home shows in the Philadelphia area, the Philadelphia Fall Home Show, Suburban Home & Flower Show and Suburban Fall Home Show.
The Philadelphia Fall Home Show, scheduled Sept. 26-28 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, will focus on renovations, decorating and landscaping with 700 exhibiting companies on a 136,000 square foot showfloor. Parents Express Magazine will host a Baby & Family Expo section, and there will be an Artisan's Row, featuring art, antiques and crafts.
The Suburban Home & Flower Show, on tap for Feb. 19-22, and the Suburban Fall Home Show, slated Oct. 16-18, 2009, will both be held in the new, 210,000 sq. ft. Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks, which will replace the former Fort Washington Expo Center when it opens in January.
“Oaks is a dream location with easy access from all the Philadelphia suburbs and plenty of free parking,” Mockus said. “The open space all on one level makes it possible for us to bring back the beautiful gardens people loved to see in Fort Washington.”
Mockus received The Expo Group's Show Manager of the Year award in 2006. Under her leadership, in 2007, the Philadelphia Home Show had a 71-percent increase in attendance. She previously managed the Philadelphia Home Show and the Suburban Home & Garden Show.
“We know our neighbors, and we know local business,” Mockus said.
