HSMAI Tech Expo Sessions Lined Up
-- Tradeshow Week, 6/23/2008
HSMAI's (Hospitality Sales & Marketing Assn. Intl.) Affordable Meetings Natl. will feature the debut of the Event Technology Expo, which has already lined up a conference program with high-profile companies and individuals from the tech industry presenting sessions.
Both events will be held Sept. 10-11 at the Walter E. Washington (D.C.) Convention Center.
Allen Blue, co-founder and vice president of LinkedIn, a business-oriented social networking Web site, will present a general session titled, “Deriving Greater Value From Three Days Out of the Office: LinkedIn's View on the Power of the Relationship and Its Impact on Events.”
“LinkedIn considers professional events to be in many ways the offline manifestation of LinkedIn online – the exchange between professional ideas, information and opportunities,” Blue said. “I look forward to sharing with the conference LinkedIn's take on how we can help develop network effect for this important industry.”
According to HSMAI, Blue's session will explore the online professional network, its beginnings and substantial growth, and the opportunities that the network effect presents to conference organizers regarding attendance and engagement pre- and post-event.
The Event Technology Expo is a two-day “show within a show,” organizers said, and will address all aspects of technology as it relates to tradeshows, conventions, meetings and special events.
There are a number of other sessions focused on technology such as “Building Attention/Sponsorships via Podcasts, Blogs and Streaming Media,” presented by Tim Bourquin, CEO of TNC Media, and “Using Search Engines as a Meeting and Event Planning Tool,” presented by Maureen Pickell, director of global events at ConventionPlanit.com.
