Advanstar Communications’ Fashion Group is keeping up with the latest trends by launching two new market segments under its MAGIC Intl. umbrella. S.L.A.T.E and Ecollection @ MAGIC will make their debuts at MAGIC Marketplace Aug. 25-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both shows are juried showcases for established and emerging brands in their respective markets.
S.L.A.T.E (select, lifestyle, apparel, trends and emergence) showcases progressive street apparel, including skate, surf and street lifestyle brands inspired by the communities they represent.
One hundred fifty exhibitors are expected to take up 40,000 square feet in the LVCC’s South Hall. The show is expected to go a step further with the street theme by creating a relaxed, communal atmosphere complete with a VIP lounge and bar, disc jockeys spinning tunes, curbside barbecues and fashion shows.
“S.L.A.T.E brands reflect that cutting-edge taste and give discerning retailers a new way to buy,” said MAGIC Intl. President Chris DeMoulin.
Over in the Central Hall of the LVCC, Ecollection will be MAGIC’s answer to the environmentally conscious retail market. Approximately 70 exhibitors representing this rapidly growing segment are expected to occupy 30,000 sq. ft. of space.
According to DeMoulin, consumers are increasingly seeking out sustainable fashion options to reflect an eco-friendly lifestyle. He said this addition to MAGIC makes sense as the demand continues to increase.
“We are excited to meet this growing demand by offering domestic and international retailers ready access to the most sought-after eco-fashion resources, while supporting the development of environmental consciousness and its evolution within the apparel sector,” he added.
Like S.L.A.T.E, Ecollection also will go beyond the typical booth environment by offering sustainable educational and networking opportunities, as well as music and art.
Both showcases will be strategically positioned to attract foot traffic from MAGIC’s expected 120,000 attendees.
S.L.A.T.E and Ecollection are just the latest shows to join Advanstar’s Fashion Group, which includes MAGIC Marketplace, WWDMAGIC, MAGIC kids, Sourcing at MAGIC and sister shows Project and Pool. One has to wonder, just how big this fashion umbrella can get. According to MAGIC Intl. spokeswoman Kathleen Flaherty, there are no announcements of further expansions into other fashion segments expected at this time.
The semiannual MAGIC Marketplace, along with S.L.A.T.E and Ecollection, will return to Las Vegas Feb. 17-19.
