Eyeforpharma is launching a one-day conference in October that will examine search engine marketing for the pharmaceuticals industry. The Search Engine Marketing Summit will take place Oct. 22 at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston.
Event producer Gerard Moore said his company, which produces events and tradeshows in the pharmaceutical marketing field, saw the need for more information on search engines as rules become tighter on the traditional ways that pharmaceuticals have been marketed at the same time the use of the Internet quickly is spreading among pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.
“With the U.S. health care environment producing so many new challenges, sales and marketing activities in pharmaceutical, companies need to really start responding to this health care climate change,” Moore said.
The following are keynote speakers at the event:
• Bonnie Becker, senior director of Yahoo Health
• Mary Ann Belleveu, industry head at Google
• Mark Bard, president of Manhattan Research
The conference, which is expected to include a small tradeshow, will feature sessions on pay-per-click marketing, online consumer behavior and the future role of online searches in the pharmaceutical arena.
“This will be the only place where the main players in the search engine industry and pharma industry can meet,” Moore said.
The Search Engine Marketing Summit joins eyeforpharma’s current portfolio of 12 events held around the world.
Moore anticipated about 60 participants for the Boston event. Eyeforpharma’s largest event, the Sales Force Effectiveness Conference Europe, typically draws about 800. It will be held next March 11 in Barcelona, Spain.
