LULAC Heads to Cincinnati in 2011

The nation's largest Hispanic organization will visit the Midwest in 2011.
The League of United Latin American Citizens chose Cincinnati as the host city for the 2011 LULAC Natl. Convention & Exhibition.
“We are looking very forward to working closely with Cincinnati's hospitality, political and civic community to have one of the best conventions in our organization's history,” said Brent Wilkes, executive director of LULAC.
LULAC selected Cincinnati over two other finalists, Orlando and Dallas.
“Cincinnati USA is clearly emerging as an outstanding destination for national conventions,” said Dan Lincoln, president and CEO of Cincinnati USA Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The LULAC convention is expected to attract between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors to the city and generate about 4,200 room nights, according to CVB officials.
“With our growing Hispanic population, Cincinnati provides an ideal forum to discuss the expanding role of Latin Americans in cities throughout the Midwest and across the country,” Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory said. “By hosting the LULAC convention, we continue to build a stronger reputation for our city as a convention destination that is second to none.”
Jason Riveiro, the Ohio director for LULAC, said he was “delighted” LULAC chose Cincinnati for the 2011 convention.
“This will be the first time our group has held its national convention in Ohio, and I, along with the Cincinnati USA CVB, will make every effort to deliver a memorable, welcoming experience for the thousands of guests who will be in attendance,” he added.
The 2009 LULAC meeting will be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
