Health Care Execs Busy at ASAE Meeting

A top executive of a health care society was the recipient of one of the most prestigious awards given during the ASAE & The Center for Assn. Leadership Annual Meeting & Expo Aug. 16-19 in San Diego.On Aug. 18, David Noonan, deputy vice president and COO of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, was the recipient of the Professional Performance Award, given for the second year to a top-level association executive who is not a CEO.
“It’s an honor to receive this recognition from my peers,” Noonan said. “I have been privileged to be part of this rich community.”
Noonan has worked for the ophthalmology academy for 37 years and been a member of ASAE & The Center for 27 years. In 2005-2006, he was chairman of The Center for Assn. Leadership’s board of directors.
Also during the ASAE meeting in San Diego, it was announced that the American Academy of Pediatrics Illinois Chapter is one of six recipients of the annual Summit Award, the organization’s highest honor for associations that implement innovative community-based programs.
The Chicago-based chapter won the award for its program titled “Enhancing Developmentally-Oriented Primary Care.”
Finally, two health care association leaders were elected to ASAE boards. Agatha Johnson, director of member services for the American Physical Therapy Assn., was elected to a three-year term as a member of The Center for Assn. Leadership board of directors. Arlene Pietranton, executive director of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Assn., was elected to a three-year term on the ASAE board of directors.
